WWII: The Axis Wars
Prague was the capital of Czechoslovakia prior to it’s annexation into the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia. Taking over the Škoda Works factory just outside Prague bolstered the Nazi effort with guns, tanks, and vital artillery.
The population is constricted by artificially imbalanced trade with Germany, devaluing the Krona against the Deuchmark and leading intense shortages of food in Prague. Germany then turns around and offers the supplies they extort from it’s Protectorate and offers them like gifts to keep them fed and in Germany’s debt. Needless to say, the population is not happy at all with their new rulers.
